Questions we get asked most
The things people ring us about before they order. If yours is not here, the workshop is happy to talk it through.
Eight to ten weeks from the day you order. Every piece is built for you rather than pulled off a warehouse shelf, so the frame, the springs and the hide all start after your order is confirmed. That includes shipping to the US, and we absorb the tariff. We keep you posted at each stage and book the delivery date with you.
Yes. Almost everything is adjustable: overall width, seat depth, arm height, foot style and finish, and whether the back is deep buttoned or plain. Tell us the room and we will tell you what will and will not work in it.
Leather wipes clean and ages into a patina. Fabric is warmer to sit on and comes in far more colors, but needs the right rub count for daily use. We will send swatches of both so you can compare them in the same room before deciding.
Send us the width of the narrowest doorway, the turn at the top of the stairs and any awkward corners. We measure every frame before it leaves and will tell you honestly if a smaller size or a knock down back is the safer choice.
Twenty five years on the frame and the springs, which is where a sofa either lasts or does not. Leather and fabric are covered against manufacturing faults, and we keep a record of every hide we cut so a later repair can be matched.
Free swatches are the closest thing to seeing it in person, and we will post up to five anywhere in the US at no cost. A video call with the team is the next best thing: we can walk you round the piece you are considering and answer anything the photographs do not. Our showrooms are in England if you are ever visiting.
