Florence Black, Cracked Wax Black, Antique Black. A sealed finish and an even black that stays black. Florence is the smoothest and most modern; Cracked Wax has a soft sheen and lightens a touch where it stretches; Antique can be hand rubbed-off to show a hint of undertone. Wipe-clean and hard-wearing, right for a busy family room or office.
Worn-in and full of character
Old English Black, Legacy Destroyed Black. Waxy pull-up leathers that crackle and lighten to charcoal wherever hands rest, so the sofa looks as if it has been in the club for thirty years before it has been in your house for one. Old English is the classic; Legacy arrives buttery and already distressed, so there’s nothing to wait for.
Deep and natural
Vesuvio Black, with Vintage Coal, Dune Charcoal and Austen Thunder. Vesuvio is a Grade A fully aniline leather, the softest black we sell, with nothing on the surface hiding the grain. Coal, Charcoal and Thunder are the near-blacks, with all the depth of black and less of its severity and they’re also kinder to dust and pale pet hair.

A soft, dry cloth once a week, more often with pets and on sealed blacks a damp cloth lifts most marks.

Blot spills
Right away, with a dry cloth and never with detergents, polishes, waxes or solvents, because they strip the finish and dull it.

Keep it away from heat and sun
Not beside a fireplace, radiator or heating vent and out of strong sunlight, which fades pull-up black.

Feed it now and then
A leather conditioner two or three times a year keeps it supple, so ask which care kit suits yours.

Which black should I choose?
Start with how you live. Sealed (Florence, Cracked Wax, Antique) for kids, pets or an office; waxed pull-up (Old English, Legacy) if you want the worn club look; Vesuvio for the softest hide, if you don’t mind it showing its age. If black feels hard, Coal or Charcoal soften it.
Does black leather show scratches and dust?
Dust, yes, more than brown or tan, hence the weekly wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Scratches depend on the leather you choose: a sealed black barely shows them at all, whereas a pull-up black shows them as lighter lines that gradually become part of the look over the years.
Is black too dark for a small room?
Not if the walls are pale. A black loveseat or club chair against white or soft gray gives a small room a focal point without swallowing it and the low Chesterfield back keeps sightlines open across the room, so the space reads as light, open and uncluttered from the door.
Which one should I choose, Black or dark brown?
