Find Your PerfectYellow Velvet Chesterfield

Yellow is the color Chesterfield never expected and looks best in. On leather it would be a dare; on velvet, where the pile deepens it to honey and mustard, it’s the warmest thing you can put in a room.

Here is every yellow we make, from a soft Honey to a mustard Ochre and a deep Turmeric, with the yellow leathers below for anyone who’d rather wipe than vacuum. Every yellow velvet Chesterfield sofa is handmade in England in our own workshop, as it has been since we started as a family business in 2007. Why Velvet Works So Well

Why Choose a Yellow Velvet Chesterfield Sofa

Brings the sun in

Yellow does what no other color can for a north-facing room, because a Honey or Ochre Chesterfield lifts the whole space without ever looking flat.

Mustard is the grown-up yellow

Ochre and Turmeric read as rich and mid-century rather than bright, sit happily with navy, grey and green and hide marks better than pale.

Color that moves with the light

Velvet pile catches the light across the curves and tufting, so a yellow shifts from gold by the window to amber under lamps.

The same build underneath.

A solid beech hardwood frame, a spring seat and around 200 buttons pressed in by hand, which is why every velvet Chesterfield carries a guarantee.

Find Your Shade

Choose the Right Yellow

Amalfi Honey

Amalfi Honey

Soft gold, A smooth, matte pile in a warm pale gold, sunshine in daylight and butterscotch under the lamps and the yellow that comes closest to a warm neutral once it’s in the room. Amalfi tests to 60,000 rubs, so it’s our hardest-wearing velvet and the yellow for a room that’s used every single day.

Ochre, two ways

Ochre, two ways

Amalfi Ochre or Vintage Ochre, The mustard. Amalfi Ochre is smooth and even, so the color reads cleanly across the tufting; Vintage Ochre has a denser, mottled, chalky pile that looks lived-in from day one, hides pressure marks and carries an easy-clean coating that holds most spills on the surface. Same color, two very different textures.

Omega Turmeric

Omega Turmeric

Deep gold, Linwood’s Italian-woven velvet in a rich, spiced gold with more red in it than the others, so it reads as the most dramatic of the three. Stain-resistant, inherently flame-retardant and woven with 28% recycled content, it suits a family room as well as a formal one. Choose it with bronze nailheads and green walls.

Maintenance

Keeping Your Velvet Beautiful

1

Vacuum gently

Once a week, with the soft brush attachment, working with the pile rather than against it, before dust and crumbs settle in.

2

Blot spills quickly

A clean, dry cloth, right away. Blot, don’t rub and leave household cleaners in the cupboard. On Honey, speed is everything.

3

Brush the pile

Pressure marks where people sit are normal, because the pile leans and catches light and a soft brush brings it back.

4

Avoid direct sunlight

Yellows fade faster than most colors, so keep the sofa out of strong sun and turn loose cushions every few weeks.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

FAQ

Which yellow should I choose?

Decide how bright you want it. Honey is soft and works almost like a warm neutral; Ochre is the mustard most people picture and the one to carry a room; Turmeric is the deepest and most dramatic. If you’re between two, order both swatches and compare them at home first.

Is a yellow Chesterfield too bold?

Not in mustard. Ochre and Turmeric behave like a rich brown and they’ve been on sofas since the 1950s without ever dating. If you’d rather hedge, put the sofa in grey and the velvet Chesterfield chair in Honey, so the color is there in the room without leading the scheme.

Does yellow velvet fade or show marks?

Yellows fade in strong sun faster than most colors, so keep it away from a south-facing window or use drapes at the brightest time of day. Marks show more on Honey than on the mustards, which is where we point family rooms and anyone with a dog or small children.

What goes with a yellow Chesterfield sofa?

Navy first: a blue velvet Chesterfield chair opposite is the pairing everyone photographs and the one that never dates. Then gray, green, teal and white, all of which let the yellow stay the warm note in the room. For the brave, purple velvet is yellow’s color-wheel opposite and it works.

Yellow velvet or yellow leather?

Velvet gives you the depth and the shades and is warmer to sit on in winter. Tempesta Dijon is our mustard leather Chesterfield sofa option, a semi-aniline that wipes clean and wears in with use. They’re very different yellows in the hand, so order a swatch of each before deciding.

What size yellow Chesterfield do I need?

Consider how the room will be used and measure doorways, hallways and stairs too, since a sofa has to get in before it goes anywhere. Choose a size for the space, from a club chair or loveseat to a corner Chesterfield sofa and see our sofa measuring guide for help.
