Amalfi Sapphire
Bright blue. A smooth, matte pile in a clear jewel blue, luminous in daylight and rich under the lamps, the shade to choose if you want the sofa seen first. Amalfi tests to 60,000 rubs, so it’s our hardest-wearing velvet and the blue for a room used every day.
Amalfi Dark Blue
Deep navy. The same smooth Amalfi pile in a deep, near-black navy that behaves like a rich neutral and settles into almost any room, from a pale grey scheme to a panelled study. It hides marks as well as any dark velvet and pairs beautifully with brass and darker walls.
Vintage Ocean
Teal-leaning. A denser pile with a subtly mottled, chalky finish, so this deeper, greener blue looks gently lived-in from day one. Ocean is the easiest of the three to live with, since the finish hides pressure marks and the easy-clean coating holds most spills on the surface until you get there.

Vacuum gently
Once a week, with the soft brush attachment, working with the pile rather than against it, before dust and crumbs settle in.

Blot spills quickly
A clean, dry cloth, right away. Blot, don’t rub and leave household cleaners and solvents in the cupboard where they belong.

Brush the pile
Pressure marks where people sit are normal and a soft brush brings it back, though on Ocean you’ll rarely notice.

Avoid direct sunlight
Blues fade faster than you’d think in strong sun, so keep the sofa away from a south-facing window and turn the cushions.

Which blue should I choose?
Decide how bright you want it. Dark Blue behaves like a neutral and suits most rooms; Ocean is a deeper, greener blue that hides marks best; Sapphire is the boldest, best against pale walls. If you’re between two, order both swatches and compare them at home in daylight.
Is a blue Chesterfield too bold?
Not in a dark shade. A Dark Blue Chesterfield behaves like a navy suit, reading as smart rather than loud and nobody calls a navy too much. If you’d rather hedge, put the sofa in grey and the velvet Chesterfield chair in bright Sapphire.
Does blue velvet fade?
In strong sunlight, yes, faster than you’d think, so keep it away from a south-facing window or use drapes during the brightest part of the day. Out of direct sun the change is slow and even and a dark navy shows it much less than a bright Sapphire ever will.
