Festive How To: Pretty Table Displays
We love checking out other interiors-related blogs; we have far too many on our reading list!. But we especially love browsing fellow blogs at this time of year when there’s a ton of Christmassy how to posts to enjoy.
Earlier today we stumbled across this gorgeous post from the folks over at Home Shopping Spy, which is run by the Alice Humphrys from Ideal Home magazine. We’re big fans of the blog, as it offers loads of interiors inspiration for anyone looking to spruce up their home in time for Christmas.
This post focuses on Christmas candle decorations, and how to put together a stunning yet simple display which won’t break the bank. Here, Alice talks you through a few of her favourite ideas. Thanks to Alice for allowing us to share them here.
1. Jazz up some jars Make a floating candle display using Kilner jars. Add berries, rosemary and eucalyptus to the jars, then fill them two-thirds full with water. Place a floating candle inside and light. Wrap a length of ribbon around the top of the jar to finish off. For similar ribbon, try Jane Means.
2. Display pastry cases This simple idea will show your candles off beautifully. Fill metal pastry cases with individual red berries and put a tealight or short pillar candle in each. Line them along a mantelpiece or along the length of a table to really make an impact. I used Silverwood fluted flan tins, £14.95 for four, Divertimenti.
3. Plant in old pots Turn terracotta pots into candle holders. Place florists foam in the base of each pot, then press in dinner candles. Fill the pots with moss up to 2cm below the rim, then add berries, holly and other foliage. Display in an old fruit crate or metal bottle carrier. For florists foam, try Oasis foam brick, £1.39, Hobbycraft.
